  • Inscription: Maratha Military Landscapes added to the UNESCO World Heritage List

  • Announced by: UNESCO during the 47th World Heritage Committee session in Paris, July 2025

  • Nomination Cycle: 2024–25

  • Significance: Recognises the extraordinary fortification and military systems developed by the Maratha rulers

  • Total Components: 12 forts across India

    • In Maharashtra: Salher, Shivneri, Lohgad, Khanderi, Raigad, Rajgad, Pratapgad, Suvarnadurg, Panhala, Vijay Durg, and Sindhudurg

    • In Tamil Nadu: Gingee Fort
