Akash Prime missile
Akash Prime, Prithvi-II & Agni-I Missile Tests
-
Akash Prime, the upgraded version of the Akash Air Defence System, was successfully tested by the Indian Army in Ladakh at an altitude of over 15,000 feet.
-
The trials were jointly conducted by the Army Air Defence Corps and DRDO, achieving direct hits on fast-moving aerial targets.
-
Akash Prime is a medium-range surface-to-air missile (SAM) platform and will be deployed in the 3rd and 4th Akash regiments of the Army.
-
The system is designed for use in high-altitude, rarefied atmospheric conditions, strengthening India's indigenous air defence capabilities.
-
Additionally, Prithvi-II and Agni-I, both nuclear-capable short-range ballistic missiles (SRBMs), were successfully test-fired by the Strategic Forces Command from the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur, Odisha, confirming operational and technical readiness.
